Perseverance

God "will give to each person according to what he has done."To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. ~ Romans 2:6-7

Goals.

Who has some?

I have many!

BIG goals such as moving into a bigger house by my daughters 5th birthday {she is 3 1/2} and  being completely debt free by my husbands 30th birthday which is March 20, 2011!

Running a 5k by Mother's Day! Reading through all the books on my bookshelf before the end of the year. Knittng my best friend a blanket and matching stuffed animal for her baby who is due in February. Getting my family on a budget that allows me to buy more natural/organic foods. And, the most important goal I have, is to read through the entire Bible in 90 days and finish by October 2nd.

How am I doing with these goals, you may ask? Well, we started looking at houses, but have yet to put ours on the market. My husband put a plan into affect a month ago to help us reach the goal of being debt free and so far, so good!

The running, yeah, that isn't going as planned. I started out strong, running 2 miles/3 nights a week, but life got in the way and I have yet to get back into my routine. I haven't read through an entire book all summer. {this is so depressing to me because I used to be able to read a book a week...sometimes 2!} The knitting! Ha! No needles have touched these hands of mine in a long time! And the budget for better foods is coming along...

But, I am happy to say that the reason some of these goals have had to take a "back seat" is because I have been spending so much time in His Word and loving every minute of it! Growing closer and closer to my Heavenly Father and soaking in all that He is wanting to tell me. {and I am needing to hear!}

I will be the first to admit that this challenge has not been easy for me. Especially at times when the whole house is quiet because everyone is napping {a rarity in my house!} and I really want to pick up a novel that is just wanting to be read from off the shelf, but instead, I pick up my Bible. And I do not regret it!

I have gotten behind. Then ahead. Then behind again. But all in all, I am learning and loving and growing in my spiritual walk with Jesus Christ!

I will persevere and reach that goal, because the prize He has for me is the most rewarding!

Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. ~ Philippians 3:13-14

  1. I like how you wrote this post. It is a worthy goal and the prize of what we are taking in is worth the time regardless if we finish on time...
    Thanks for your prayers and for stopping by my blog!
    I really like your blog. Giveaways are fun... I have read that book or I would enter. In a few weeks, I have some cool giveaways coming, so keep watch.
    Blessings,

  2. I was a babywearing Momma and look forward to toting some grandbabies around the same way. :) I had a front soft pack for my first 2 daughters, which was okay until they were around 20lbs and then NOT okay and I had to go to carrying them on my hip without help. At that time, I knew a lactation consultant that sold slings but they were $50 and I couldn't afford one. With all of our foster babies (and our 2 adopted sons) I wore every one of them. My favorite was my Over The Shoulder Baby Holder, which I used with each baby and both sons until they were close to 2. My first son's sling retired when it ripped, and he would crawl inside of it at naptime, in his crib. He slept with it until he was 3. :) I loved wearing my little ones, and wish I'd had a Maya wrap to try, and those neat stretchy wrap-around ones I am seeing all over now, too. Babywearing is one thing I REALLY miss!
