And her nose stuck in a book...

The challenges are all about to start, or have started, and I am so excited to dive in and get to reading!

The Bible in 90 Days challenge starts tomorrow over at Moms Toolbox. For those of you who may not know, I participated in {and finished!}this challenge over the summer and am not only going to be reading through the Bible again, but I'm also mentoring others through prayers and encouragement to finish as well! It's not to late to sign-up and join us in this amazing and rewarding challenge. Just head on over to Moms Toolbox where you can find more information as well as sign up!

The Lucy Maud Montgomery challenge starts tomorrow at Reading to Know! I love Anne of Green Gables, but have yet to read the Emily of New Moon series, which is what I am choosing to read for this particular challenge. The series consists of three books: Emily of New Moon, Emily Climbs, Emily's Quest.

Reading the Classics hosted by ButterflyWishes and Wonderland Dreams, started yesterday. {but it's not too late to sign-up!} The books read for my Jane Austen Challenge count towards this challenge as well. I am hoping to visit a few classics such as Little Women, To Kill A Mockingbird, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, The Grapes of Wrath, Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, and really hoping to get to Anna Karenia. These are all books that I currently own and that have been on my TBR pile for way too long!

Annnd...last but not least, my first challenge, Jane Austen 2011! You can link up here if you would like to participate! You have a whole year to read/watch as much of Jane as you would like! I am planning on reading all seven of Jane's published works {Emma, Pride & Prejudice, Mansfield Park, Persuasion, Sense and Sensibility, Northanger Abbey, and Lady Susan} as well as a few inspired novels {Jane Austen Ruined My LifeMr. Darcy Broke My Heart} . Also, I am going to be watching Pride & Prejudice, Emma, and Sense and Sensibility sometime throughout the year as well! {I plan on starting my Jane reading binge sometime in February, once I finish the LMM challenge!}

That's enough to keep me going for a year and still allow for me to enjoy various other works of fiction as well. {Especially these titles by Sarah Sundin, A Distant Melody and A Memory Between Us. Excellent, excellent, books, if you enjoy reading Christian Historical Fiction, like I do! Highly anticipating the release of her newest book, Blue Skies Tomorrow due out in August 2011!} Just had to mention these books since I am highly enjoying them!

Happy Reading!

  1. I'm sure the classics challenge will be a fun one! Out of your list, I've read To Kill A Mockingbird and The Grapes of Wrath. Both are good. The Grapes of Wrath has quite a bit of language; however, I was able to ignore most of it. The story itself...wow. It is one I will always remember, I'm sure.

  2. WOW!! I think you are going to have a very fun year :) I've read most of the Anne series, but didn't finish the 3rd Emily book. Happy reading!!

  3. Oh yay! Glad you are reading the Emily books. So far you are the only the second person who is committing to Emily. Last year a LOT of people seemed to gravitate towards her and this year I'm seeing way more variety which I love. At the same time, glad she's still getting some notice.

    I really need to re-read those myself. I just have to forget the visuals that the tv series left me with first. ;D

    Happy Reading! (And hosting, too, btw! I'm becoming more and more excited about this Jane Austen Challenge and after I successfully complete the read of Sense and Sensibility I might have to plow onward!)

  4. Amy - thank you so much for your kind words about my novels - I'm really touched!

    I've read the Emily books and loved them - not funny like the Anne books, but poignant.

    I'm not doing any reading challenges, but I'm determined to read books faster than I buy them for once!! Must whittle down the TBR pile.

  5. So many great books! We're in 3 of the same challenges! It's been years since I read the Emily books, but I enjoyed them. I'm going to read some L.M. Montgomery's I've never read this time around, though. And I'm really excited about your Jane Austen challenge! Then of course, there's B90 Days...I've got such a great group! Then of course there's my other big stack of TBR/reviewed books, LOL...

  6. Wow. You are some reader!
    I just had to comment about the Emily books. I was at my grandparents' one summer, I was 13, with my sister who was 9. It was looking to be a pretty boring visit until I happened upon my Mom's old books, 3 of which were the Emily books. Oh, how they made the hours fly by - I remembered them for years but only found them about 25 years later for my girls to read!
    So since you are older than 13, they might not be as magical, but they will always have a special place in my library.
