Lucy Maud Montgomery Challenge {wrap-up}

L. M. Montgomery Reading ChallengeThe Lucy Maud Montgomery Reading Challenge hosted by Carrie at Reading to Know, has sadly come to an end. I wish this challenge could last a little longer, but not to worry-I plan on visiting with L.M. Montgomery and a few more of her titles throughout the rest of the year.

My goal was to read the Emily of New Moon books as well as watch the Anne of Green Gables Movie. Well, I only got through the first Emily book, but I did watch and enjoy the Anne of Green Gables movie!

Emily is a different character all in herself from Anne, but a lot of her quirkiness and stubborn ways reminds me a lot of Anne. I enjoyed reading the start of her journey in New Moon. The trials and tribulations set before her. She is a charming character and at many times thoughout the book I found myself pitying her and getting upset at whoever it was that was causing her grief or beng unfair. I enjoyed Emily so very much and plan on finishing the rest of the New Moon series later this year.

Thank you, Carrie, for hosting such a fun challenge! I look forward to returning next year and doing it all over again!

What books by L.M. Montgomery have you read and enjoyed?

  1. Funnily enough, I just read Emily Climbs & Emily's Quest in the last couple of weeks. I love the Emily series, she's my favorite LMM character. I would encourage you to continue on in the series. I like the second two books the best. Haha!

  2. Well, I'm very glad that you got into some of Montgomery's works - even if you didn't make it as far as you'd like. Some is definitely better than none! (And it's not like you haven't had anything else to think about of late, no?)

    Thanks for playing along! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  3. Sorry I am kind of late in putting this response in--I've been busy. While I did not participate in this challenge, I have read nearly all of L.M. Montgomery books. I actually preferred Emily of New Moon in many ways to Anne because I could relate to her character more. I love Anne, don't get me wrong. But I could so relate to Emily's personality! I wish that they had made a movie of this.
