Word-Filled Wednesday {Genesis 22:7-8}

Photobucket

Isaac turned to Abraham and said, “Father?”

“Yes, my son?” Abraham replied.
“We have the fire and the wood,” the boy said, “but where is the sheep for the burnt offering?”
 “God will provide a sheep for the burnt offering, my son,” Abraham answered. And they both walked on together. ~ Genesis 22:7-8

I love the story of Abraham and Isaac in Genesis. The obedience and faithfulness of Abraham to the LORD is something we all should desire to have. When I read this passage of scripture I often wonder what my faith would have been like if I was given the task. Could I have done it? Could I have killed my child for the LORD? {think about that for a second. wow!!}

But, is that not what our Heavenly Father did for us? He provided the sheep, for us. The sacrifice for our sins. He sent His only Son to die.

Thank you Jesus for the perfect gift of your Son, Jesus! May we all grow to love Him more and more, each and everyday! Thank you for your sacrifice. In Jesus' Name, Amen!

And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. ~ Revelations 20:12

  6. I am so glad He did! It is truly amazing love, just as Abraham's faith is amazing. I wonder at my own ability as well -- to be willing to give such a huge sacrifice . . .
