All About Reading {review and giveaway}

One thing I was very excited about teaching my children when deciding to homeschool was reading! I have always loved books and reading from a very young age and I want to also instill that same love in my children!

“We shouldn't teach great books; we should teach a love of reading.” ~ B.F. Skinner

Going about the process of how and when to begin teaching reading can be a bit tricky. I've waited for my daughter to show interest in wanting to learn and have gone with it. I decided early on that I would not force her into learning anything. I would wait on her and when she showed the interest and willingness to learn it, I would then begin!

Once I started to research ways to go about helping my daughter learn to read, I came across a wonderful company called All About Learning Press!

What I found there was absolutely wonderful! The creator of All About Reading, Marie Rippel, has such a passion for children to learn to read! She put that passion into her All About Reading curriculum and now you and I get to benefit from her experience and love of wanting children to learn to read!

Each All About Reading curriculum comes fully stocked with everything you need to start your child off in the right direction of a life-long love of reading!

Easy to use teachers manual as well as student worksheets, letter cards, storybooks and poems, and of course, Ziggy! Each will enhance and enrich the experience for your child to learn letter sounds, syllables, and putting it together in a sentence.

Here is how I've been using All About Reading Level Pre-1 throughout our week!

We typically spend 4 days a week on "school work". Out of those 4 days, I have devoted three days to use the All About Reading curriculum at some point in the day.

I start off each week by intoducing which letter and letter sound we will be focusing on throughout the week. I start in the Teachers Manual with learning the capital letter of whichever letter it is of the week. We follow the lesson for that day and end it with some fun time spent with Ziggy!

On the second day we move to the lower case letter of the week and follow the detailed and fun lesson plan for that day. Also ending with some fun time with Ziggy!

The last day is spent listening to the sound of the letter of the week as well as a quick review and game centered around the letter of the week!

The Teacher's Manual has everything I need in it and I do not need to worry about preparing anything for my teaching throughout the week. The worksheets are perforated for easy removal and use and the flashcards are assembled neatly by lesson in their own activity box.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about All About Reading, except that they have offered a All About Reading Level Pre-1 Deluxe set for one of you to win!

To Win: {please leave a separate comment for each and a valid email address for me to contact you if you were to win!}

{mandatory entry}: Visit All About Learning Press and take a look around at the All About Reading sets. Tell me one difference between the basic and deluxe packages for the Pre-1 level!
