This Week...

Today marks the official end of our first week of homeschool!
What do we think so far?
We love it!

Here is a little recap of our week as well as a few things I have already learned!

The Homeschool Mother's Journal

In my life this week…I was completely nervous to begin homeschooling thinking it was all a joke and what could I possibly be thinking taking this on. However, God humbled me and reminded me that if He is in it, it is good and everything will work out according to His plan!

In our homeschool this week…We started our first official week of homeschool and really enjoyed every minute! Creation was our Bible story topic. The letter of the week was A and the number was 1! By the end of the week, Emma was spelling out the number o-n-e as well as w-e and w-i-l-l! We went over what it means to be orderly and are working on memorizing 1 Corinthians 14:40!

Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share…Homeschooling is flexible and I have realized just how much in my first week. That is one of the best parts!

I am inspired by…Oh my...so many mothers who devote their time to educating their children at home. But I have to admit that the mothers of larger families really inspire me the most.

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…We are planning on having our first "field trip" this weekend. We are heading to the farm and picking apples! {we were supposed to be there today, but the farm we go to only does apple picking on the weekends!}

My favorite thing this week was…Watching my children get excited about learning and the fact that I am their teacher! My daughter LOVES it!

I’m reading…I enjoy reading, if you couldn't tell, and sometimes find myself reading more than one book at a time! Currently I am in the middle of three different books. Seasons of a Mothers Heart by Sally Clarkson, 20 and Counting by the Duggars, and The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons.

I’m grateful for…A supportive husband! Children who want to learn and truly are enjoying it! Online encouragement from other homeschooling mamas.

I’m praying for…A successful and fun year!

  1. Nice to meet you, Amy! Visiting from THMJ meme. Good for you and congratulations on your endeavor to homeschool! You'll continue to be blessed and amazed...What astounds me is how much I'm learning (and frankly what I didn't learn in regular school) alongside the kids. Enjoy!
