Be Content...God has taken care of everything!

Photobucket

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." ~ Hebrews 13:5

Photobucket

When trying to post a verse for todays WFW, I was coming up blank.  Usually something always seems to pop into my head when I get ready to write, but that didn't happen today.

I began to pray, asking God what He would like for me to say; which of His words does He want me to share?

I have a stack of notecards that I write Bible verses on that have stuck out to me; ones that have spoken to me; ones that have meant something to me.  I began flipping through them and that is when I found Hebrews 13:5.  As soon as I had re-read it, I knew it was the verse God wanted me to post today.

Today was "bill day".  My husband gets paid the 15th and 30th of every month and on those days I sit and write the bills out.  I am usually stressed on those days. I get so overwhelmed, being a SAHM, with finances and trying to budget to make sure we have enough money to get us through to the next paycheck.  But reading this verse today among my stack of bills and checkbook, I felt a calming come over me.  God is in control! He has always provided everything my family has ever needed and I know I can rely on Him to continue to provide.

I pray this verse will be a comfort to you.  Our Heavenly Father will supply all of our needs.  We just need to remain faithful...He will take care of the rest!

And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. ~ Philipians 4:19

Being Blessed By Yarn!

I recently participated in my very first swap on Ravelry. It was a yarn swap and the theme was "Beach Party". The requirements were to spend $20 on your swap partner.   The "box of goodies" had to contain yarn, something homemade, and a few other "beachy" themed items.

I have to admit, I was a little nervous going into this swap.  I was scared of either not recieving anything, or recieving, well, lets be honest...junk!  Also, I was nervous that my "box of goodies" that I was sending out would not be sufficient enough.

Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised when I recieved my box yesterday! My swap partner outdid herself and I have been completely blessed by her. She has been wonderful with communicating with me from the beginning and could not say enough nice things about her.

Here are the wonderful "goodies" I recieved:

Photobucket
Two balls of Bamboo yarn (that she stated were her favorites) and Stitch Markers that she made for me!

Photobucket
Hand knit Little Beach Bag (that she made for me!)

Photobucket
Knitting Magnet (again, that she made)

Photobucket
Two knitted "beach balls" for my kids and a can of Tennis Balls for my dogs! (she even thought of my dogs!!)

Photobucket
Peach Tea, Chapstick, Watermelon Gum, and a Pattern Book to make little animals for my kids!

I can't begin to say "Thank You" enough!  Her kindness and thoughtfulness went above and beyond!  God sent me a wonderful blessing through swapping yarn!  Recieving that box yesterday put the biggest smile on my face and I just wanted to let her know how truly thankful and blessed I was by it!

Now, I only hope she loves what she has gotten in return. (I would state what I got her, but she may read this before she recieves my box!)

Pray: Completing Him Challenge Week #3

Photobucket
Hosted by Courtney at Women Living Well
This weeks challenge is to pray daily for our spouse. I love this idea. Although I pray on a daily basis for the Lord to watch over my husband as he is working, I never really pray for him as a person. I just pray for his protection. So this is going to be something that I know is going to change the intimacy of our marriage as well as bless my husband on a whole other level!

Here is a list of things Courtney states that we should pray for our Husbands:

1. His Wife -that's a good place to start right? lol!

2. His Work

3. His Finances

4. His Sexuality

5. His Affections

6. His Temptations

7. His Mind

8. His Fears

9. His Purpose

10. His Choices

11. His Health

12. His Protection

13. His Trials

14. His Integrity

15. His Reputation

16. His Priorities

17. His Relationships

18. His Fatherhood

19. His Past

20. His Attitude

21. His Marriage

22. His Emotions

23. His Walk

24. His Talk

25. His Repentance

26. His Deliverance

27. His Obedience

28. His Self-Image

29. His Faith

30. His Future

I believe that if I get into the habit of daily praying for my husband I will see a dramatic change in not only his life, but mine as well!

I also love how Courtney uses her wedding ring as a reminder to pray for her husband.  She states to let your wedding ring be a reminder to pray this week. I want you to pray every time you look down and see your wedding ring. What a wonderful way to remember to pray!

Courtney also adds to the challenge to take a day and fast for our husbands.  Now, I have to admit, I have never been good at fasting.  I always start out on fire for it, but my flame quickly dies out.  But, I am going to pray for God's discipline and try to take a day this week and fast for my one and only.  I will keep you updated on when and how it goes!

My little sister just got married this past Saturday and our Pastor stated in his message at her ceremony that when you invite God into your marriage, what a wonderful marriage it will be.  He will supply all of our needs! Marriage takes three!

Wedding Day Bliss!

“But from the beginning of creation, God MADE THEM MALE AND FEMALE. “FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH; so they are no longer two, but one flesh. “What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.” ~ Mark 10:6-9

Today my little sister will first become a bride and then become a wife!

Oh the joy new love brings!  I pray for God's blessings on their new life together.  I pray for patience and understanding and a love that surpasses it all.  I pray that God blesses them with ups and downs and the strength and communication to get through.  But above all, I pray for happiness and lots and lots of love!

I love you both and pray that you have a beautiful wedding day and a wonderful, happy, life together. May God bless you with as wonderful of a marriage as He has done for me!

Remembering: Completing Him Challenge

 Completing Him Challenge: Week #2

Photobucket

This weeks challenge is to remember the day you and your spouse became one!

"and the two will become one flesh.' So they are no longer two, but one." ~ Mark 10:8

Here is the story of one of the three greatest days of my life...the other two were when I was blessed with my children!

My husband and I got married on September 17th in 2005.  It was a beautiful day.  The sun was shining.  The temperature was just right.  I wouldn't have planned it any other way.  God truly blessed us with a gorgeous day.

Photobucket

Photobucket

We were married in our beloved little church by a Pastor who has known both of us our entire lives.  It was a very special ceremony! My favorite and most memorable part of the whole ceremony was when we were on stage, after passing out the roses to our mother's, and I looked into my husband's eyes and saw him crying.  I wiped his tears with the hanky I had been holding and remember falling in love with him all over again!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Our reception was a blast!  We had so much fun eating and dancing that I never wanted the night to end! All our closest friends and family were there showing their love for us!  I remember telling my Husband that I wished we could have done it all over again the next day!

Photobucket

Photobucket

We left the following Monday for our Honeymoon in Cape May, New Jersey.  We stayed in a Bed and Breakfast and enjoyed walks on the beach, bicycles rides along the boardwalk, fabulous dinners, and romantic conversations on the huge Victorian style porch at night!  I loved our time there and really getting to know the man I married!

I can't believe we are coming up on the 5 year mark!  I remember being told by quite a few people when we first got married that the first 5 years are the hardest! Well, they have definately had their ups and downs, but I wouldn't trade any of the bad moments in for anything!  We learned from them.  We grew as a couple from them.  We fell deeper and deeper in love because of them!  God never said marriage was going to be easy!  It is a work in progress and both people have to be willing to work, hard, for it to last forever and ever, the way God intended it to!

Photobucket

We just had a guest speaker in our church this past weekend who had said he and his wife were going to be married 65 years this year!!! Can you imagine?? I leaned over to my husband and told him "that was so going to be us...in 60 years"!! With God's help and our love and determination to stay true to our vows, it will be!!

There are three things that amaze me—
no, four things that I don’t understand:
how an eagle glides through the sky,
how a snake slithers on a rock,
how a ship navigates the ocean,
how a man loves a woman.

Happy Father's Day!

I am so blessed to know four wonderful Father's; my Heavenly Father, my Father, my Father-In-Law, and my Husband, who is a wonderful Father to our children!  I am blessed that my children have three wonderful men as their earthly role models.  All three men will teach them and show them the ways of our Heavenly Father.

Today, I just want to say "Thanks" to these three amazing men!  Men who would do anything for their families.  They deserve to be honored this day. God is so good and has truly blessed my life by placing them in it!

As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him. ~ Psalm 103:13

This Weeks Question: Are you an animal person? Any type in particular?

Me...an animal person?  Oh yeah!  I love animals!  Especially cute, furry, animals.  Dogs, cats, rabbits, gerbils, hamsters, I would have one of each if I could!

As a girl growing up I loved horses, still do! I had wanted one ever so badly, but unfortunately it was just something that was unattainable.  I did take riding lessons, just to "feel" like I owned a horse.  I loved the lessons and am hoping that my daughter would be interested in doing the same as she gets older.

Currently, we have two dogs.  A boxer mix named Gracie (5 yrs. old) and a Pit Bull named Lillie (4 yrs. old).  Both are gentle, loving, dogs and are a wonderful part of our family. We have had both since they were puppies. If the space of our house and yard allowed, I would definately, without hesitation, get another dog.  There is just something about having a puppy in the house!

Things I Love Thursday

Photobucket

Today I am thankful for Carpet Steam Cleaners!  Those lovely devices that incorporate water, cleaner, and steam to really get your floors and even furniture super clean and disinfected!  I really needed to use one today!

Photobucket

My Little Man and I were sitting in the living room this morning, nice and early I might add, just playing, when I smelled a poopy.  Much to my dismay, the poopy had made its way out of his diaper and onto the floor in my living room!  All over the floor in my living room!

I quickly scooped him up and carried him into another room to change him when I had realized that the poopy was leaving a trail behind us! Yep, thats right...it was falling out of his diaper while I carried him!  It was all over him, all over me, and practically all over my house!

Did I become stressed?  You bet I did!  But, I sort of sat there...took a few deep breaths in and out...asked God to give me the strength that I need...and realized that this was noones fault and getting all upset and discouraged wasn't going to make the situation any better.

So, while I cleaned up My Little Man, my husband cleaned up the poopy with some rug cleaner.  I didn't feel satisfied.  Not that he didn't do a good job, but I just felt like my rugs were not clean enough.

So, I called in reinforcements!  That's right...my Mom!  She owns the wonderful, steam, carpet cleaning, device and is on her way over here as we speak to help get my rugs back to their clean and shiny shelf!

As I sit here writing this, I think of how I could have handled this situation in a more negative way (so thankful that I didn't) and made it a bigger deal than it really was.  When you have kids, things like this happen.  It is inevitable and there really is no way to avoid it!

When a stressful situation arises, how do you react?  Do you get all stressed and freak out?  Do you want to run in the opposite direction and never come back...like I wanted to do this morning?  Or do you just sit, take a deep breath, and feel God's presence taking control?

I wish I could say I always do the last thing, but I don't.  I am human and when a stressful situation arises, I am more likely to freak out and want to run away instead of just dealing with it calmly!

It is so refreshing to know that in the most stressful of times, God is there to ease some of that stressfulness and give us complete joy and control!  All we have to do is breath and let him in! Let him remove the stress just like the steam from the Carpet Cleaner removes the stain, smell, and the yuck!

May you be Blessed today!

Gone With the Wind Read A Long: Week 2

Photobucket

Are we still enjoying the book?

I have to say, I have slacked a little on this weeks reading. With summer and the fact that my little sister is getting married on the 26th, I have been unusually busy! But, I am still enjoying this book, none the less.

Here are some discussion questions. Feel free to add your own or to comment on something that stuck out for you in the book.

1. Rhett warns Scarlett that he "always gets paid" (pg 242). Discuss the times when this is true. Why does he have this attitude? Is Rhett ever purely generous?

2. Considering he knows of her love, why does Ashley ask Scarlett to look after his wife, Melanie, while he's at war? Is this a fair favor to ask? Does Scarlett agree only because she's in love with him, or has she learned to love Melanie, as well?

I will be back later in the week to add my answers! :)

You can leave your answers in the comments or link up your blog post using Mr. Linky!

Next Weeks Reading:
Chapters 19-27

Completing Him Challenge ~ Week #1

I am participating in the Completing Him Challenge hosted by Courtney at Women Living Well. This weeks challenge is as follows (quoted from Courtney's Blog):

Photobucket

Consider: How much time do you spend on a daily/weekly basis cultivating your marriage now? In what ways can you regain some of what has been lost in the daily shuffle of life?

Purpose this week to do something that reminds your husband of the youthful wife you once were - maybe it's wearing something you know he loves on you (remember we dressed to please back in those dating days!), go somewhere you both used to enjoy going together - alone!, look at photos together of the "good ol'days", watch a favorite movie, or just simply sit together talking, listening, dreaming, holding hands, rubbing his back, and simply paying attention to the amazing husband of your youth! Treasure him this week!

I am so blessed to have been led to Courtney's blog.  This challenge is exactly what I have been needing to do!

Our Story
My husband and I met in the summer of 2001.  He had been home on a 2 week leave from his service in the United States Marine Corps.  I was at a mutual friends house where we were gathering for a party for his short time at home.  It had been awhile since he had been on leave and his friends were a little excited for his return!

Now, this is going to sound so cliche', but it was love at first sight...for me anyway!  When I saw him walk into the yard and our eyes met, I knew that I would marry that man!  I tell my husband this all the time, but of course, he doesn't believe me!  I tell him that a women just knows!

We spent a lot of time together those two weeks, but when he left to go back to his post in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, neither of us really thought anything would come of it. He being on the west coast and I being on the east coast in Pennsylvania.  We exchanged email addresses and that was pretty much the end of it...or so I thought!

Shortly after his return to Hawaii, September 11th occurred.  I remember being terrified that he would be sent to war.  His face is the first to have appeared in my mind.

I hadn't been able to reach him via email and I was anxious to know his fate.  Since I never obtained his cell phone number, I was unable to reach him by phone.  But, a wonderful friend of mine did have his brothers phone number, which I called immediately to see if he had heard any news.  Luckily, my husband had just been on lock down and had not heard whether or not he would be one of the troops being sent over.

After weeks of praying, I had found out he was not being sent over and would remainly safely in Hawaii. God had bigger, better, plans for his life!

I thought about him constantly; talked about him constantly, so much so that my friends were getting sick and tired of hearing me repeat his name! "I wonder what he is doing now?" I wonder if he is dating anyone?" I wonder if he ever thinks of me?". My friends had had enough.  They had called him one night, much to my surprise.  I had no idea they even had his number, let alone just called him. All I know is I was being handed the phone saying it was for me.  When I heard his voice on the other end I about fainted!  I was embarrassed, but also thrilled, to be finally talking to him after 4 long months!  We hadn't talked very long that first night, but that was only the beginning of many more, longer, phone calls.

Over the next several months we talked more and more on the phone.  He was in a different time zone than I, 5 hours behind, so most of our conversations were at night.  They usually lasted into the wee hours of the morning.  We talked about everything...and really got to know each other.  Nothing was held back.  I enjoyed those phone calls and often think about them.  I used to lay in my bed and just listen to him talk and vice versa...wishing he was here, but also very thankful for cell phone waves carrying our voices back and forth to each other!

We had a relationship based solely on conversation for 2 years while he finished his duty to the Marine Corps.

During that time, we got engaged!  He had been home on leave in December of 2002 and proposed to me on Christmas Eve.  It was beautiful!  I was going to be marrying the man of my dreams!  I couldn't have been happier!  God had brought us together and saw us through.

Photobucket

Looking back on those days, I remember thinking that those 2 years were going to be the longest 2 years of my life.  But, I am thankful that things happened the way they did.  I learned more about my husband during those 2 years that I may not have learned had he been home.  God has a reason for everything and he knew exactly how and when we were going to meet.  He has a perfect will and plan for our lives!  We just have to remain faithful!

I have to say, my husband and I still have great conversations with each other, when we find the time! That is going to be my challenge...to find the time to just sit and talk.  To just be Us with one another.   No TV...no kids...no computer!  Just the two of us...like how it all began!

Finding "Me"!

When I first started this blog about two weeks ago my intentions were for it to be a book/knitting blog.  Well...that has changed over the past two weeks as I have grown in the "blogging" world and have found out more about myself in these 2 weeks than I have in the past 2 years!!

PhotobucketI have come across some amazing blogs and the women who run them!  I have been inspired!  I have come to realize that God has been laying on my heart the need and want for more of Him in my family!  More times centered around Him and His Word! And also, more time for just MY relationship with Him...which is why I have decided to take on the Read the Bible in 90 Days challenge!

PhotobucketGod needs to be the center of our marriages and our families. He is what holds us together.  We need to be spending more time reading and learning and being blessed by His Word!

I will still be discussing books...because I am a complete book junkie...as well as knitting as I continue to learn, but my main focus now is going to be God and my family!

So, as I change some things in my own life, as well as in the life of this blog, I pray that some of you will take a look at your own lives and think about where you can make changes to add more of God into it! I promise it will be a change you won't regret!

Many Blessings,

Amy

Here is the story of one of the three greatest days of my life...the other two were when I was blessed with my children!

My husband and I got married on September 17th in 2005.  It was a beautiful day.  The sun was shining.  The temperature was just right.  I wouldn't have planned it any other way.  God truly blessed us with a gorgeous day.

Our reception was a blast!  We had so much fun eating and dancing that I never wanted the night to end! All our closest friends and family were there showing their love for us!  I remember telling my Husband that I wished we could have done it all over again the next day!

Amy
